Defend Our Future will host a press conference featuring Assemblywoman Sarah Peters, local experts, and environmental organizations to spotlight the negative consequences of rolling back federal Clean Car Standards.
In August, the Trump administration unveiled their plan to substantially weaken Obama-era Clean Car Standards, which would have pushed passenger vehicle fuel efficiency up to 50 miles per gallon by 2025. The rollback will result in 350 million barrels of additional oil being burned, 155 million metric tons of additional carbon pollution, and $34 billion in additional fuel costs for American drivers.
