More than 50 students attended our summit at Florida International University to discuss solutions to combat climate change at the state and local levels. The event opened with remarks from Rohan Patel, Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Intergovernmental Affairs. He then joined a panel that included Chris Miles, Deputy Chief of Staff and District Director to U.S. Representative Carlos Curbelo (R-FL) and Carol Gables Mayor Jim Cason. The conversation ranged from the Clean Power Plan to the ways that students could leverage social media as an activism tool. In the afternoon, the students heard from Salome Garcia, an attendee of last November’s White House American Campuses Act on Climate Event.
