At Georgia State University, we hosted senior EPA officials, business leaders, sustainability experts, and more than 50 students from across Georgia. EPA Regional Administrator Heather McTeer Toney opened the summit with remarks about environmental justice and Georgia’s goals to reduce carbon pollution under the Clean Power Plan; and EPA’s senior advisor for environmental justice, Mustafa Ali, discussed the benefits of clean air standards for lower income communities and communities of color that are disproportionately impacted by climate change. Rounding out the speakers and panelists were energy and sustainability experts from the city of Atlanta, Cox Enterprises, Coca-Cola and Southface Energy Institute.
