Nation’s Leading Environmental Advocacy Groups Launch Digital Ads in Support of Biden Cabinet Nominees
EDF Action, Defend Our Future, and the League of Conservation Voters Launch Digital Ads to Support Climate-focused Nominations Through Senate Confirmation Process
Washington, D.C. — EDF Action, Defend Our Future and the League of Conservation Voters launched a digital ad campaign urging the Senate to quickly confirm Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator nominee Michael Regan, Department of Interior Secretary nominee Congresswoman Deb Haaland, Deputy EPA Administrator nominee Janet McCabe, Department of Energy Secretary nominee Governor Jennifer Granholm, nominee to chair the Council on Environmental Quality Brenda Mallory and the now confirmed Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
“All of President Biden’s cabinet level nominees are committed to combating the climate crisis and growing our economy. His team is going to be laser focused on policies that protect public health, advance environmental justice and safeguard our air and water while creating good paying clean energy and green infrastructure jobs for the 21st century. We’re urging the Senate to quickly confirm the President’s nominees, so they can get to work for our country and the planet,” said EDF Action Senior Vice President of Political Affairs Elizabeth Gore.
The buy targets Senators, urging a quick confirmation process.
“In order to Build Back Better, we need leaders throughout the government committed to protecting our environment and public health,” said Tiernan Sittenfeld, LCV Senior Vice President of Government Affairs. “The Senate must quickly confirm President Biden’s dream team of climate champions so that this historic administration can build on the president’s executive orders and get to work addressing the interwoven climate, racial, economic, and health crises with a whole-of-government approach and build a safer and healthier planet for future generations.”
The ads are a component of the Confirm Climate campaign, a national campaign of more than 25 organizations encouraging swift confirmation of President Joe Biden’s nominees to help the new administration achieve its goal of enacting the most ambitious climate policy agenda in history.
“Young people want the Biden administration to take bold and lasting action to tackle the challenge of our generation – climate change. And they see that President Biden has assembled a strong and diverse climate team, with nominees who not only understand the threat of the climate crisis but also the injustice of its disproportionate impacts, and are committed to tackling it head on. Here at Defend our Future we’re advocating for the Senate to quickly confirm these nominees, so they can start to make real progress on stopping the climate crisis and building a just economy for all,” said Defend Our Future Program Director Matt Oberhoffner.
