In my fall semester of 2017, I got involved with Defend Our Future when an intern approached me and asked if I would be willing to call my Senators about environmental issues. I was inspired by this grassroots environmental activism, and I wanted to join in to help protect the environment. At The Ohio State University, there are so many ways to get involved my community, and Defend Our Future has been a great experience. Not only am I around great people who share my passion, but I also am making an impact in the fight for climate solutions.

Interning with this organization encouraged me to become more educated about environmental issues. I have learned about how when we exploit of the planet, the consequential environmental hazards disproportionately impact people of color. Defend Our Future has empowered me to raise awareness on this issue and given me a platform. I helped organize an environmental justice press conference with Defend Our Future that featured guest speakers from other student organizations who advocate for social equality and environmental integrity.

Interning with Defend Our Future has helped cultivate my passion for helping others and raising awareness for how we as citizens can make a difference. I encourage you to find – or start – your own campus chapter!
